Our Journey

Tweedbank Early Learners started life as Tweedbank Playgroup back in the 1970’s, the setting became a Registered Unincorporated Charity in 1978

The Playgroup operated from Tweedbank Community Centre, and soon became an integral part of the community

In 2015, a change of name was proposed - in order to reflect the quality of Early Learning and Childcare we were now providing and the important changes we had made to the children’s learning environment. This was voted on and agreed with parents and the wider community, and we became known at Tweedbank Early Learners, whilst still operating as an Unincorporated Charity

In 2017 it was proposed that our setting should look into a new charity model - one that would allow for a Board of Trustees to do the day to day running of Tweedbank Early Learners and reduce the burden on parents to join a Committee, and so it was agreed that Tweedbank Early Learners would convert their Unincorporated Charity to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation

This new charity was launched on 7th September 2018:

Known as Tweedbank Early Learners (SCIO) we now have a Board of Trustees who oversee the smooth running of the charity along with the Manager, who is also a Board Trustee. We are proud that we are still based in Tweedbank Community Centre, in the heart of our local community
